Balancing hormones

Estrogen, Testosterone, Oxytocin, oh my!

Balancing hormones is a hot topic. Why? Because we are feeling it! Our modern societies are straining on hormones. And hormones affect sleep, mood, sex, digestion, energy levels, skin, bone health, hair growth, brain function, … everything.

Hang in there! I’ve been down this road and back again, and now I’m here to tell you what we can focus on at any age that will absolutely have the greatest effect on our hormones. This aligns with the latest scientific research, ancient practices, as well as my own rocky path to recovering from extreme depletion.

While there are limitless products, influencers, formulas, and hacks for hormonal regulation, here’s my TOP 3 things to do (and why):

Number 1: Track the Sun

Why: We are evolutionarily programmed to regulate our circadian rhythms and hormonal function with the sun.

You can drink those powders and buy that expensive night cream (it’s fun, and maybe it even works a little) but NOTHING will be as powerful as the enhanced sleep, brain, thyroid, and hormone function you receive from sun exposure. That’s right. Neuroscience has revealed that — oh, guess what — we are intrinsically connected to that ball of life-giving light in the sky. Humans have honored the sun for centuries in song, dance, and schedules, because it represents prana = our life force. It’s warm and radiant and flowing and it’s there for you every single day!

How: Get unfiltered sky exposure as close to sunrise as possible; bonus points for sunset exposure as well.

You’re worth it! We are an amped-up world, so most of us need energetic support. Nourishing hormones can regulate moods, sleep, digestion, and life.

Number 2: Track the Moon

Why: The moon moves the tides within our bodies of 70% water. This pull affects us physically, emotionally, and expressively.

The moon isn’t just for witches and werewolves. When bleeding women track the moon, it regulates our hormones!OMG! And for men and non-bleeding women, the moon presents a phenomenal opportunity to tap into cycling for enhanced boosting and detoxing—whether its physical, emotional, or work related, we all need to build and edit. You decide: either you are flopping around in the waves of the moon or you can ride them for enhanced intuition, energy levels, productivity, communication, weight loss, muscle toning, and detoxing.

How: For at least ONE MONTH (optimally 3), do this practice: When you can, look up in the night sky and notice the phase of the moon. Then take a moment to check in with yourself physically and emotionally. Keep a journal if you’d like to track correlations over time.

Number 3: Connect with Nature

Why: We are nature. Connecting with nature helps us become embodied which is our purpose here, and our true path to freedom.

Check out this equation:

Internal conflict —causes—> disease

Ignoring your feelings and spiritual desires —causes—> Internal conflict

Illusion —causes—> Ignoring feelings & desires

Confusion + fear —causes—> Illusion

Disconnection —causes—> confusion + fear

Embodiment = connecting mind, body, spirit; remembering you are love; the human experience; the path to freedom

Science always points to nature for improving physical and mental health: from gardening enhancing your gut biome, to hikes increasing your immunity, to animals and plant connection increasing oxytocin (the happy love hormone).

How: Get a house plant, pet a gerbil, lay on the earth for 20 minutes, walk outside, imagine shapes in the clouds, take a deep breath.
